On another quiet night in sports viewership, an ESPN NBA doubleheader topped the charts.

Wednesday’s Warriors-Sixers NBA regular season game averaged 1.16 million viewers on ESPN, the largest sports audience of the day, but down 31% from Sixers-Celtics on the same night last year (1.68M). Keep in mind ESPN’s coverage was blacked out in the Bay Area. Compared to the equivalent date of last season — February 1 — viewership actually increased 12% from Nets-Celtics.

The Pelicans-Clippers nightcap averaged 1.12 million, down 30% from Mavericks-Clippers last year (1.60M). (Compared to Hawks-Suns on the equivalent date last year, viewership increased 31% from 855,000.)

Shifting to the college game, Alabama-Auburn averaged 471,000 on ESPN2 — down 13% from 541,000 for Iowa State-West Virginia last year — followed by Texas A&M-Missouri at 292,000 (-5%). ESPNU drew 97,000 for Pittsburgh-NC State, a season-high for the little-watched network, followed by FGCU-Eastern Kentucky at just 17,000.

BTN drew 334,000 for Wisconsin-Michigan, up 49% from Nebraska-Michigan a year ago (224K), followed Nebraska-Northwestern at 221,000 (-21%).

In Big East action, Creighton-Providence averaged 167,000 viewers despite airing on FS2 — up 36% from DePaul-Villanova on FS1 last year (123K) — while the competing Georgetown-Marquette women’s game on FS1 had just 22,000. Earlier in the night, Villanova-Xavier averaged 121,000 on FS1 and Georgetown-Seton Hall 84,000 on FS2

Moving beyond the hardwood, TNT averaged 338,000 for an NHL regular season doubleheader — up 40% from a solo Wild-Stars game last year (241K). In particular, Lightning-Rangers averaged 413,000 and Wild-Blackhawks 271,000.

On Nickelodeon, “NFL Slimetime” averaged 68,000. (For context, the long-running “Nick News” followed with 53,000, and “Danger Force” led-in with 75,000.) The FS1 talk show “Undisputed” averaged 64,000, its smallest audience yet since returning from hiatus.
