Olympic downhill gold medallist Sofia Goggia has broken her leg in training.
The 31-year-old, who won gold in Pyeongchang in 2018, crashed when she ran her leg into a gate on a right-hand turn in Ponte di Legno, Italy.
The Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) said she sustained a double fracture to her right tibia and would require surgery.
Italian Goggia is the reigning World Cup downhill champion and leader in this season’s standings.
She has 350 points, with Austria’s Stephanie Venier second on 261, and Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami third on 209.
