Neapolitan pizza, prosecco and Italian desserts: Delhi gets a taste of Italian street food | Events Movie News – Times of India

Neapolitan pizza, mushroom polenta, croquettes and cones with fried vegetables, accompanied by prosecco and red wine, ice-cream flavoured with black cherries and many more culinary delights welcomed guests at the Italian Embassy’s Cultural Institute in the city recently. On the occasion of the Italian Cuisine Week in the World, the event – Italian Street Food Journey – brought flavours of Italy inspired by its street food to India.

With guests savouring fresh pizzas by chef Simone Fortunato from Portici, Naples, the dinner was organised in collaboration with chef Ritu Dalmia. Talking about the highlights of the dinner, Italian Ambassador Vincenzo De Luca said that this event, “combines three Italian treasures recognised in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage list – the Mediterranean diet, prosecco, and the traditional art of the Neapolitan pizza chef. We are known to be very good pizza makers and we are also very good in the Mediterranean diet and wines.”

Thanking Ritu, he added, “Without Ritu, there is no Italian food here in India, or Italy, or anywhere in the world.”
