Sakshi Tulsian is the co-founder of Posist (a part of Restroworks), one of the fastest-growing restaurant technology software platforms. Posist is one of the few global SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) success stories in the making from India that has gone truly global in 50+ countries powering over 14,000 restaurants. Posist has grown multifold as a bootstrapped company since its inception in 2012. Today the company is recognised as a global leader by G2, a global software rating platform, and as an emerging employer of choice by (GPTW) Great Place to Work certification. Recently the company turned 11 years old. Some of the most renowned global brands today use Posist to manage their operations such as Taco Bell, Subway, Carl’s Jr, Jamie’s Italian, Sbarro among others.
Sakshi is responsible for translating the company’s vision to become the largest global restaurant technology platform into action. She oversees the revenue growth and leads all the global Go-To-Market efforts of the company. With more than 15 years of executive management experience, she has played an instrumental role in driving revenue growth, increasing the top and bottom line, improving operating procedures and efficiency, expanding into international markets, achieving high customer satisfaction, and enhancing competitive advantage. Sakshi also heads the Channels, Alliances, and Integrations at Posist.
Education & Career
After completing her engineering as the university’s top ranker, she pursued a two-year stint at Sapient, and the desire to start a start-up grew even stronger. Even while at Sapient, she made sure she had the know-how of different things, so she got down to studying various things – planning resources, meeting targets, billing clients, and handling deliveries. Her stint there was followed by starting up Websanchaar, her first startup venture where they were enabling small and medium enterprises to set up an online presence through webpages in 2007.
How A Restaurant Led To The Foundation Of Posist
Sakshi and her partner Ashish Tulsian back in 2010, started a fine-dine restaurant in New Delhi. The restaurant was rewarding financially but extremely demanding in terms of operations. It was tough to handle vendors, staff, payments, and pilferages. Just then, they started the search for a restaurant management application, and to their surprise, they couldn’t find a solution that met their needs.
Both were engineering batchmates, and taking advantage of their tech background, they coded software to fit their needs. This was a comprehensive cloud-based restaurant point-of-sale software on a web browser, a concept that was not popular back then, as brands still used on-premise software or maintained records manually.
The beta-stage POS (Point of Sale) product eventually caught the eye of other restaurant owners, and it started getting inquiries from them to have the same product at their restaurants. The first 50 customers came in purely on word of mouth. That’s when the duo decided to exit the restaurant business and took this up full-time, incorporating Posist in Jan 2012.
That was the moment both Ashish & Sakshi realised that they were solving a big problem for our restaurant and the entire industry.
