Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto has revealed that he will leave the club at the end of the season and has already asked to depart the side.

Luis Alberto was linked with a move back to Spain last summer and even before that, but the move couldn’t go through as potential suitors could not match the midfielder’s asking price. But it seems as if he has asked to leave the club and he doesn’t want to earn more money from the club.

He has told DAZN (via TMW) after Lazio’s win over Salernitana and has confirmed his exit from the side, revealing that he has asked his deal at the club to be terminated.

“For me they have been difficult weeks, with everything that has happened. Plan? I don’t know, but I know that this is my last season here, I will no longer be part of it. I don’t want to take another euro from Lazio, I have already asked for the contract to be terminated. I will leave the next four years to others. Rightly so, stepping aside from this club has given me a lot. It is The time has come to step aside and leave my salaries to others.”

Alberto had a rather strange relationship with former manager Maurizio Sarri, who had publicly mentioned how he didn’t suit the 4-3-3 system and he had previously pointed out how the Spaniard and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic can’t play together. It seems as if things are of the essence for Luis Alberto, who has already proved what a gifted player he has been for Lazio.
