Kevin Spacey, Two-Time Oscar Winner To Take On The Role Of Devil In Italian Thriller The Contract

Kevin Spacey will return to the big screen this time in an Italian psychological thriller The Contract, in which Spacey is slated to play a character called ‘The Devil’. The film directed by Massimo Paolucci just wrapped up its production recently in Rome, Italy. According to a statement by TM Entertainment, the movie shares similarities with two classics, Robert De Niro’s Louis Cyphre and Al Pacino’s John Milton.

The Contract, directed by Massimo Paolucci and produced by Tm Entertainment and Sandro Lazzerini recently wrapped up their shoot in Rome, according to Cinecittà News, the official news source of Rome’s renowned Cinecittà Studios. Spacey’s character in The Contract, called ‘The Devil’ is similar to two characters of Robert De Niro in Angel Heart, who played a satanic businessman and Al Pacino who played a devil in disguise in Devil’s Advocate. According to reports, the producers had to court Spacey for eight months, to get him to play the role.

Kevin Spacey’s Legal Battles

According to court documents, the actor made a deal in February with MRC, House Of Cards‘ production company to reduce a $31 million judgement against him for sexual misconduct on set, involving young crew members to $1 million. The actor was then cleared of nine charges of sexual assault in a UK criminal trial in July 2023. According to a The Cut‘s 2023 report, Spacey was charged with seven counts of sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault and two more counts of nonconsensual sexual behaviour.

Kevin Spacey’s Comeback After Sexual AssaultAllegations

Spacey has recently started to make a comeback on the silver screen after his career came to a halt amid the #MeToo allegations. The House of Cards actor’s career collapsed in 2017 due to accusations of sexual misconduct; however, he has since been cleared of all charges and found not guilty in a sexual assault trial held in UK in July 2023.

Director Paolucci’s Previous Works

The Italian director and producer Massimo Paolucci has also directed the action thriller All in One Day, which is available on Prime Video in Italy, the horror-crime film Medium, and Photoshock, another horror film. Paolucci also worked as a line producer on Dracula 3D which was directed by Dario Argento.
