Jessica Pegula‘s current status appears to be in a doubtful sitch. Right from the time when she lost to Daria Kasatkina in Charleston, the WTA star has failed to find a re-entry in the scene. While it was revealed that she had to miss the event in Stuttgart due to poor scheduling, fans somehow moved on from the disappointment, looking forward to her appearance in the tournaments ahead. However, as per the latest reports, it seems like the spectators will have to show more patience to witness her comeback.

The ongoing tournament in Madrid has now advanced to the semi-finals and the authorities have already started to set the next stage. Recently, the WTA tour officially released the list of participants for the upcoming WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. According to the table, Jessica Pegula will be missing out on the event, taking more time to gather herself.

This happened after the American’s withdrawal from the ongoing Madrid Open. Giving the reason for keeping herself out of the clay court tournament, Pegula announced that she got hurt just days before the event was set to begin. “Hi guys not a great update but I got hurt this past week before Madrid and Unfortunately not ready to play. Thankful for some extra time at home and hope to be back ASAP,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Despite keeping herself on the sidelines for a notable period, Jessica Pegula experienced no evident fall in her rankings. The tennis star entered the top 10 back in June 2022 and therefore managed to secure her position despite the ups and downs. Even after keeping herself on the sidelines for a long time, she recently completed 100 consecutive weeks of holding a position in the top 10, making it a notable achievement for her portfolio.

“Very proud of this stat. Hoping to be back in court soon,” Pegula said, expressing pride over her massive feat, along with assuring fans of a comeback soon enough. While she decided to take more time out of the scene yet again, it still remains to be seen when she will be able to make a comeback.
