Serie A side Atalanta reached the final of the Coppa Italia after they picked up a 4-1 win over ten-men Fiorentina in the second leg of the semi-final of the competition.

The first leg had seen Fiorentina pick up a 1-0 win and for a while in the second leg, they were very much in the game. Lucas Martinez Quarta had made it 1-1 for La Viola after Teun Koopmeiners’ goal but that is when Gianluca Scamacca came alive. The Italian struck a sensational scissors kick in the 65th minute and later set up Ademola Lookman in stoppage time to make it three for the day for La Dea.

The Italian sparkled in the game, with his goal coming in a very Zlatan Ibrahimovic-esque way, fulfilling the comparisons made between the two in recent years. This is now a rather gilded period of the season for the Italian, who had scored a brace against Liverpool and a goal each against Verona and Cagliari.

Perhaps, he is hitting form at the right time with the Euros coming up in the summer. And with a strikers’ dilemma still very much around for Italy, Scamacca is showing that he could be the starting striker for Luciano Spalletti’s side.
