6 My Name Is (Bet Now: $2.40) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Team Freedman trained three year old that ran over 1100m at Sale last time out when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by Our Malyshka. Back to 1000m, lands on speed and if this track is playing up/in, he’ll take running down.

Danger

5 Moaksun (Bet Now: $5.00) is a son of Akeed Mofeed for Henry Dwyer that is on debut. He’s jumped out well in readiness for start one and maps to get an ideal run in transit. Stable can get them ready to fire fresh/on debut, so I’d watch the last 10-15 minutes of betting and see what it does.

Long Shot

8 Foxykoby (Bet Now: $23.00) is on debut for Team Corstens. This girl is bred to appreciate further than 1000m so how sharp she will be here, not sure, but her jumpouts have been solid enough and will do no work from the inside gate. Doubt she wins but she can pinch a first four spot.

Race 2. (18:45) Middle Distance Series Heat 1 (Bm64) 1528m

Back Me

Year in year out with these Friday night meetings at The Valley, SA horses rarely run poorly and I think that trend will continue via 6 Just Like Lisa (Bet Now: $11.00), who is absolutely flying this time in for Justin Pickering. She was a strong winner at Morphettville just under two weeks ago, getting the dream run in transit behind the speed before angling into clear air and she got better as the race went on to win well. Harder here, but the way she is racing, she has earned a crack.

Danger

1 Kodiak (Bet Now: $5.00) has done little wrong in a ten start career for Team Freedman and commands respect. He got run of the race stuff at Wangaratta last time but he still had to take advantage of it and that he did, getting clear and finished best. He was six weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, he rates highly.

Long Shot

2 Polanco (Bet Now: $6.50) hasn’t won in over three years but he’s racing in pretty solid form for Shea Eden. He ran over 1300m at Sandown last start where he was tucked in behind the tempo and although was held up at times, he had his chance when fourth to Le Ferrari. He has a good record at The Valley and gets in well after the claim. Knockout hope.

7 Walk Of Fame (Bet Now: $6.50) each way for me. Danny O’Brien trained mare that ran over 1400m at Geelong last time, her first run in four weeks. She got back to near last in the run and made up solid headway late in the straight without threatening when fourth to Georgie Get Mad. if she can settle closer in the run, I think 1600m will be okay, she gets D Lane…very likeable, especially at the price.

Danger

4 Justifiable Award (Bet Now: $4.00) is absolutely flying this time in for the Vidotto/Beasy camp. 2/2 for the stable, resuming with a dominant win over 1200m at Mornington before stepping up to 1500m there and was similar again, dominant from off the speed. She’s flying and deserves a crack in town.

Long Shot

6 The Marg Factor (Bet Now: $7.50) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Peter Gelagotis. Led and fought on really well fresh at Cranbourne before going to Caulfield on Australia Day when on speed and just lacked the class/quality in the straight when down the track behind Eternal Fame. Big improver back to this depth.

Race 4. (19:45) 55 Second Challenge Heat 11 (Bm78) 955m

1 Wolflands (Bet Now: $4.00) is a great each way play here for mine. Team Hayes trained gelding that is absolutely flying this time in. He is four weeks between runs since giving them a start and a beating to win and win well at Murray Bridge over 1000m. 955m is an interesting set up for him but with speed in front, plenty of it, he’ll be very strong late. Just needs to get clear air.

Danger

4 Scuderia (Bet Now: $4.80) is a ripping mare for Thomas Carberry. She comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Dec 15 at this track/distance where she produced sustained speed from the front and was too good in a sharp display. 70 to 78 grade, and is drawn out, but will press forward and hard to knock a mare in a purple patch.

Long Shot

5 Dio (Bet Now: $27.00) is one I can entertain for wider exotics. This guy resumed on Dec 23 over 1000m here where he got back in the run and made up solid headway but was never a winning factor behind Philosopher. He’ll be sitting of the good speed and if the breaks go his way, he’s capable of being a total knockout.

I reckon 3 Lascars (Bet Now: $19.00) is worth a throw at the stumps each way. Former Godolphin galloper that has done a really good job since joining Michael Jones, with the reward being a win at Mornington last time, producing sustained speed from the front and giving nothing else a look in to romp up. Has run well at the track previously and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

Danger

4 Dakota Lee (Bet Now: $4.40) is one of the more fascinating runners on the program. NT star that makes her Eastern state debut for Team McEvoy after winning 7/7in that part of the world and looked a very nice horse. Keen to see how she goes against these and I do think the market will be the guide as to how forward she is.

Long Shot

9 Young Liam (Bet Now: $8.50) is dangerous with his absolute best so I wouldn’t be dismissing him. He ran at Cranbourne last time in a field of five. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick but found one better in Miss Icelandic. Not sure he wins at this level, but for exotics, I think he can be entertained, especially given he loves this track.

3 Goodes (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to have returned in pretty good order for Team Freedman. Market wanted him with a fair amount of confidence when resuming at Sale in a maiden and despite a nervous moment or two, his class kicked in late and he was dominant in the run to the line in winning. Harder here, but good upside, leading camp, Lane sticks…leading chance.

Danger

5 Massira (Bet Now: $4.60) is a knockout hope for James Cummings. He resumed at Wyong where he got back in the run and was trucking but when it came to getting clear air, it didn’t eventuate and it ended up being an ugly watch behind South Of India, finishing fourth, beaten under three lengths. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous.

Long Shot

8 Maajida (Bet Now: $13.00) looks a nice filly for Ciaron Maher. Whether she can measure up in town straight away, not sure, but all you can do is win and that is what she did when a debut winner at Cranbourne, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and finishing best. Harder here, but maps okay and Ethan Brown has been excellent since returning.

I am going to have an each way bet on the Andrew Noblet trained 9 Scully (Bet Now: $9.00), who gave them a start and a beating to win fresh at Sandown, letting down with a brilliant finale to score in a sharp return, and you go back through his form in the Spring, it’s riddled with subsequent Stakes form. I was keen on him running well in the Eskimo Prince at Randwick but they instead come here. Hard to beat.

Danger

11 Kusini (Bet Now: $7.00) is a query at the end of 1200m but with her racing pattern, she’ll give herself every chance. She ran down the straight at Flemington last time over 1000m when off the speed and fought on well but just couldn’t quite see it through when a close up fourth to Mornington Glory. That form does read very well and is dangerous with a more positive steer.

Long Shot

6 Cuban Link (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Greg Eurell trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since August 5 at Flemington when racing over 1400m. She got back in the run and made up solid headway late in the piece behind Starlight Scope, finishing a close up fourth. 1200m is on the short side for her but should be strong late.

Back Me

9 Shaime (Bet Now: $2.80) has been around the mark in her six start career and rates highly. Cliff Brown trained mare that has raced down the Flemington straight her past two, two back being over 1000m before going to 1200m a week later when attempting to lead throughout and giving a strong kick but just tired late, nabbed by Southern Fire. Back in depth and back to a bending track, she appeals.

Danger

1 Naiconi (Bet Now: $3.00) is a Nicconi mare for Team McEvoy that resumes. She had a very good Spring prep back in 2022, winning her first two runs before going to Caulfield when placing in the Twilight Glow behind Vienna Princess and was spelled soon after. The long time off is a query but she has jumped out/trialled well leading in and she has a touch of quality. Watch the market.

Long Shot

4 Juice Box (Bet Now: $21.00) will land on speed and give cheek. She did that last time out at this track/distance and tried hard but she just felt the pinch late when down the track behind Miss Take. Drops big time in depth here, gets a cheap run near the front…I think she’s a knockout hope.

BEST BET: Race Four Number 1 Wolflands
